Southampton Town Launches 'Adopt a Bus Shelter' Program
The Town is seeking residents, companies and organizations to sign up for the program.

Southampton Town Councilman Stan Glinka recently announced the launch of the “Adopt a Bus Shelter” program for residents, companies and organizations on Tuesday.
The program will allow participants to “sponsor” bus shelters in order to keep them litter-free.
“This a great opportunity for local businesses and organizations to support the Town Of Southampton in keeping the local landscape clean and free of litter,” Glinka said. “Those that participate in the Program will receive recognition at their designated shelter for the contribution they are making to keep it clean for all of our residents and visitors.”

The Town is looking to enlist residents, companies, and/or organizations to become Sponsors of this program and help with the removal of litter and debris from the Town’s eight existing bus shelters.
The Sponsor will receive a sign in recognition to be placed on their adopted shelter and will enlist the help of one of the approved maintenance providers on the Town’s website to remove the litter and debris.

Any individual, business or organization (except for political candidates, political action committees and political campaigns) may become a Sponsor.
The Towns Transportation Commission is ‘very supportive’ of the launch of the program, according to Tom Neely, Executive Director of the Commission.
“The members of the Commission see this as a way to involve local businesses and community groups in an effort to support both public transportation and to help keep our environment clean.”
