Staples Offering Free Electronics Recycling

Regardless of where the devices were purchased, Staples at the Bridgehampton Commons is accepting electronics for recycling in a new partnership with HP. 

Desktop computers, laptops, tablets, external hard drives, small servers, computer monitors, printers, desktop copiers, faxes, mice, keyboards, modems, routers, PC speakers, shredders, landline and mobile phones, battery backups, GPS devices, MP3 players, and digital camcorder and cameras will all be accepted. The limit is six devices for person per day.

“Staples' free tech recycling program will help increase the number of electronic products that are safely recycled,” said Mark Buckley, the vice president of environmental affairs for Staples.

Devices can be dropped off at the service desk inside the store. From there, the electronics will be transported to a distribution center, sorted, and shipped to recycling processing centers.

The program does not accept televisions, appliances, floor model copiers, stereo equipment, alkaline batteries, and certain other household electronics.

Staples offers a $2 credit for every ink or toner cartridge recycled, and accepts wornout rechargeable batteries.
