Thief Caught Who Stole $20K Necklace From Southampton Jeweler: Police

SOUTHAMPTON, NY — A Port Jefferson man who stole a $20,000 diamond necklace from a Southampton store in November has been apprehended, police said.
According to Southampton Village Police, Jerome Stallone, 52, was arrested on Sept. 12 at 12:21 p.m. and charged with third degree burglary and third degree grand larceny, both felonies, as well as fourth degree criminal mischief, a misdemeanor.
On November 28, 2016 at approximately 4:30 p.m., while the store was open for business, Stallone is alleged to have entered Rose Jewelers, located at 57 Main Street in Southampton Village, and smashed a display case with a hammer, stealing a diamond necklace valued at approximately $20,000 and then leaving the area on a dark colored bicycle, police said.

After months of investigation, Stallone was identified as the person responsible for the crime, police said.
Southampton Village Police detectives arrested Stallone upon his release from the Willard Drug Treatment Center in Willard, NY, police said.

Stallone had been incarcerated due to violations of his conditions under the supervision of the division of New York State parole, police said.
At arraignment, Stallone was remanded to the Suffolk County Correctional Facilities in Riverside with no bail, police said.
