Voter's Guide: Southampton School Budget, Board Election

What you need to know for the election on May 19.

Southampton residents will vote on the school district’s $65,103,073 proposed budget for the 2015-16 school year on Tuesday, May 19.

In addition, the district recently received updated information from the Town of Southampton Assessor’s Office to calculate a new estimated tax impact for the 2015-16 school year.

Due to the estimated increase in assessment values, a new estimated tax rate of $2.387 has been calculated, a decrease from $2.401 per $1,000 of assessed value, using an estimated 4.30 percent increase in assessments.

Four candidates are running for two seats on the Southampton Board of Education.

Robert Fischette, Roberta O. Hunter, Donald King and Natalie Sisco are running to fill the positions held by Roberta O. Hunter and Donald King, whose terms expire on June 30, 2015.

The elected candidates will serve a four-year term from July 1, 2015 until June 30, 2019.

Voting will take place on May 19 from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. at the Southampton Intermediate School Music Room located at 70 Leland Lane in Southampton.
