SOUTHEAST, NY — A grisly scene at a Hudson Valley lake has authorities looking for answers, and asking for your help.
The Putnam County SPCA says that Law Enforcement Division personnel responded on Sunday to the area of Old Milltown Road, in the Town of Southeast, after receiving a report around 6:30 p.m. from a fisherman about several dead and possibly mutilated birds on the shoreline of Sodom Reservoir.
Once at the scene, officers saw two decapitated roosters and two decapitated white doves. Police say that the birds were found strewn about the ground near a tree, a few feet away from the Sodom Reservoir.
The Putnam County SPCA noted that similar incidents have taken place recently in the county.
While the incident remains under active investigation, anyone with information about the incident, or any similar incidents, is asked to contact the Putnam County SPCA Law Enforcement Division at 845-520-6915, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
