Brewster Official Wraps Up Decades-Long Police Career

His last day is Saturday.

After more than five years with the —starting as a sergeant and moving up the ranks—Carmine Drogo is retiring.

An officer in one department or another for the last several decades, Drogo, a White Plains resident, told Patch he is ready for retirement, and more quality time with his wife, Barbara. 

He was a member of the New York City Police Department for 23 years, serving as a detective and a sergeant for some of the time. He also worked in parts of Long Island and various New York State Parks. Drogo most recently served as co-police chief, alongside John DelGardo.

"It was an honor and a privilege to serve," he said while sitting with Mayor Jim Schoenig Thursday afternoon. Drogo's last official day with the Village is Saturday.

He started with BPD in March 2007, a few months after the department launched.

"He was one of the starters here," Schoenig said. "He brought great experience here. He'll be sorely missed."

No decisions have been made regarding additional hires following Drogo's departure, and that of , Schoenig said.
