UPDATE — A NYSEG crew doing work for the MTA at Brewster's Metro-North train station broke a water line Thursday, forcing village officials to shut off water to all of Brewster for more than three hours. Water was back at 2:15 p.m., turned on gradually to minimize turbulence.

NYSEG spokesman Michael Jamison said the crew was undertaking underground work for the new power supply to the station, which is on the Harlem Line.

He said the company followed proper protocol and had the existing underground infrastructure mapped and marked before starting the work. "The third party that provided the mapping mis-marked the area," Jamison said. "We are looking into who did the mapping and marking."
