Brewster Man Faces Shoplifting Charge in Southeast

The alleged incident took place at Home Depot.

On April 9, Deputy Sheriff Andrew Kristan responded to the Home Depot store at 80 Independent Way in Southeast for a report of a shoplifter in custody of security staff.

The deputy determined that John A. Tomassetti, 53, of 12 Elmwood Drive, Brewster had taken merchandise and left the store without paying. The deputy arrested Mr. Tomassetti and charged him with petty larceny, a misdemeanor.

Tomassetti was processed and released pending an appearance in the Town of Southeast Justice Court to answer the charge.

If found guilty of the misdemeanor, he could face up to a year in jail and a fine of up to $1,000.00.
