Brewster's Weather: Winter for Thanksgiving

The busiest travel week of the year comes with cold temps, wind, snow and, later, rain around Southeast.

BREWSTER, NY — The busiest travel week of the year looks to be relatively dry but also very cold around Thanksgiving in the Hudson Valley.

"The cold and windy weather will be slow to move out of the Northeast," AccuWeather Meteorologist Faith Eherts said.

Below-average temps and high wind gusts will keep everyone shivering into mid-week.

Then milder air could bring rain across the mid-Atlantic and along the Interstate-95 corridor, with enough cold air lingering across interior areas that fog, snow and possibly freezing precipitation is mentioned on Thanksgiving along with the chance for some rain showers. Areas inland may see some snow and freezing rain mix in with some rain during the late morning and early afternoon on Thanksgiving.

For those traveling away from the Hudson Valley, the upcoming storm in the Central states will bring much smaller amounts of rain, snow and wind compared to the storm this past weekend. However, there could still be enough adverse weather conditions to cause travel slowdowns on highways and at airports, Accuweather meteorologists predict.
