Car Crashes into Wall, Driver Charged with DWI and Resisting Arrest
He was arraigned in Southeast Town Court.
A Mahopac man is due in court on charges of DWI and resisting arrest.
At about 7:50 a.m., Sept. 27, Putnam Deputy Sheriff Matthew Tunney responded to a 911 report of a property damage auto accident on Secor Road in Mahopac. The deputy arrived less than a minute later and saw a man outside a vehicle that had been driven into a stone wall. The man began to walk away from the deputy and repeatedly ignored the deputy’s commands to return to the scene.
An eyewitness to the accident identified the guy as the driver, police said.

When the deputy again commanded the man to return so he could investigate the accident, the man became physically combative with the deputy and attempted to grab one of the deputy’s weapons, police said. The deputy subdued and arrested the man, identified as Maikhaz Gvaladze, 49, of 160 East Lake Blvd, Mahopac.
The deputy charged Gvaladze with Driving While Intoxicated and with Resisting Arrest, misdemeanors, after Gvaladze failed a series of standardized field sobriety tests.
