Car Stolen in Illinois Stopped In Southeast: NY State Police

The driver turned out to be wanted in New York City, state police allege.

SOUTHEAST, NY — A New York City man driving a car stolen in Illinois was stopped by New York state police Wednesday. Police stopped Earl J. Allen, 26, of the Bronx, on I-84 at about 12:52 a.m.

Investigation during the stop found the 2017 Dodge Caravan was reported as stolen from Illinois, and Allen was wanted for arrest by the New York City Police Department. Allen was also found to be in possession of suspicious credit cards and money orders, as well as having a suspended license.

He was charged with Criminal Possession of Stolen Property in the 4th Degree, a Class E Felony, Aggravated Unlicensed Operation in the 3rdDegree, an Unclassified Misdemeanor, and multiple vehicle and traffic infractions.

Allen was arraigned before the Town of Southeast Justice Court and remanded to the Putnam County Jail in lieu of $15,000 cash bail or $30,000 bond.
