Carmel Police Investigating 2 Possible Luring Incidents

Police were alerted to two incidents where children were approached by a stranger.

CARMEL, NY — Police in Putnam County are investigating a couple of suspicious incidents that involved a white man in his 30s and his interaction with children in the hamlet of Carmel. Town of Carmel police said that responded to a report of a suspicious incident Friday in a residential neighborhood off State Route 301 in Carmel.

The mother of a 5-year-old girl called the police to say that the driver of the suspicious vehicle stopped next to the child as she walked up the road and asked where she lived.

The au pair watching the child noticed something was wrong and went outside.
