BREWSTER, NY — Our first, short work week of 2019 will bring mostly sunny skies and seasonably cold temperatures. Then snow, then rain.

The blustery wind that ushered in the New Year will subside Tuesday night.

Here's what the National Weather Service says for Putnam County:

  • Tuesday night-Mostly clear. Lows in the mid 20s. Northwest winds 10 to 15 mph. Gusts up to 25 mph this evening.
  • Wednesday-Sunny. Much cooler with highs in the mid 30s. Temperature falling into the upper 20s in the afternoon. North winds around 5 mph, becoming east around 5 mph in the afternoon.
  • Wednesday Night-Partly cloudy in the evening, then cloudy with a chance of light snow after midnight. Lows around 20. Southeast winds around 5 mph. Chance of snow 50 percent.
  • Thursday-Mostly cloudy with a chance of snow or rain in the morning, then partly sunny with a chance of rain in the afternoon. Highs in the lower 40s. Southwest winds 10 to 15 mph, becoming northwest in the afternoon. Gusts up to 30 mph. Chance of precipitation 30 percent.
  • Thursday Night-Mostly clear. Lows in the mid 20s. West winds 5 to 10 mph. Gusts up to 20 mph in the evening.
  • Friday-Sunny. Highs in the mid 40s.
  • Friday Night-Partly cloudy in the evening, then becoming mostly cloudy. Lows in the lower 30s.
