I-684 Northbound, I-84 Ramp Reopen After Crash

UPDATE — Interstate 684 northbound in the area of exit 9W, and the Interstate 84 exit 20 ramp have been reopened following the collision between an oversized commercial vehicle and the Interstate 84 exit 20 overpass ramp, state police said.

The investigation and clean-up took about an hour.

SOUTHEAST, NY —The New York State Police are currently investigating a collision involving an oversized commercial vehicle that smashed into the Interstate 84 exit 20 overpass ramp.

A tractor trailer hauling an oversized modular home northbound on Interstate 684 struck the overpass at about 11:15 a.m., state police said. The modular home was severely damaged.

Interstate 684 northbound is closed at exit 9W. Traffic is being detoured onto Interstate 84. The Interstate 84 exit 20 ramp is also closed to Interstate 684 southbound.

The overpass must be checked for structural damage as fragments of modular home are cleaned up.

The duration for these closures is unknown at this time, police said. Please avoid the area and find alternate routes.
