Cop Injured in Taconic Crash Returns to CT to Continue Recovery

He was transferred from Westchester Medical Center to Gaylord Rehabilitation Center.

Southeast, NY — A police officer with the West Haven Police Department in Connecticut has been sent back to his home state after a stay in Westchester Medical Center recovering from a serious motorcycle crash in June.

Lohud.com said Officer Mike Doyle, 34, was transferred to Gaylord Rehabilitation Center in Wallingford, Connecticut, to continue his recovery.

Doyle was part of a group of police officers on motorcycles from different agencies who were in a training run traveling southbound on the Taconic State Parkway in Putnam Valley.

As they approached the Bryant Pond Road interchange, a vehicle entered the parkway and attempted to merge.

Several of the motorcycles tried to take evasive action and two of them struck each other.

Doyle was ejected from his bike. He was taken to Westchester Medical Center.

The second rider and the motorist were not injured.
