Cops Charge Mahopac Man with Burglary

To recover jewelry taken from a local home, the Putnam Sheriff's Department executed search warrants in Brooklyn and The Bronx.

Putnam County Sheriff Donald B. Smith reports the arrest of a Mahopac man on a charge of burglary.

On March 2, investigators from the Sheriff’s Department Bureau of Criminal Investigation arrested Mikheil Kapanadze, 28, of 4 Panny Circle, and charged him with Burglary in the Second Degree, a felony.

The arrest was the result of a investigation into the burglary of a Mahopac residence from which jewelry was reported stolen.

During the course of the investigation the jewelry was located and recovered after multiple search warrants were executed at locations in The Bronx and Brooklyn, police said.

Kapanadze was arraigned before Carmel Town Justice Joseph Spofford and sent to the Putnam County Correctional Facility in lieu of $20,000 cash bail or $40,000 bond pending a March 8 court appearance.

If found guilty of the felony charge, Kapanadze could face up to fifteen years in a New York State Correctional facility and a fine up to $15,000.
