CT Man Pretends He's A Cop, Gets Arrested

Police said he had a fake badge and a fake ID.

SOUTHEAST, NY — A Connecticut man was arrested in Putnam County for impersonating an officer. State police said Robert T. McLean Jr., 54, of Waterbury, CT was charged with possession of a forged instrument, a felony, and second-degree criminal impersonation, a misdemeanor.

Around 10:45 p.m. April 9, troopers stopped a 2002 Mercedes Benz on I-84 in the Town of Southeast for a vehicle and traffic law violation.

McLean displayed a fake Mount Vernon Housing Police shield and a forged police identification card, police said.

He was arraigned in the Town of Patterson Court and sent to the Putnam County Jail in lieu of $1,000 bail or $3,000 bond.

McLean is next scheduled to appear in the Patterson Court April 19.
