Danbury Man Stopped In Southeast Had Illegal Gun: NY State Police

SOUTHEAST, NY â A Danbury resident faces felony charges in New York after a traffic stop on I-84 May 22. New York State Police from the Brewster barracks charged Esmelyn A. Hernandez, 46, of Danbury, CT, with Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the 2nd degree, a class C felony, and Criminal Possession of a Firearm, a class E felony.
Troopers initiated a traffic stop of a 2003 Chevrolet Impala for an infraction of the vehicle and traffic law on Interstate 84 in Southeast. While interviewing Hernandez, troopers allege they discovered he was in possession of an illegal loaded firearm.
Hernandez was arraigned before the town of Southeast Court, and sent to the Putnam County Jail in lieu of $10,000 cash bail or $20,000 bond.
