DelFranco Wins: Southeast-Brewster Daily Sports Digest April 10

The Brewster Athletic Department provided the following information via its website:
The Brewster Bears hung on to defeat the Arlington "B" team today (April 3) at Renegades Stadium by the score of 5-4. TJ DelFranco started for the Bears and held Arlington at bay for 6 innings.

TJ scattered five hits and two unearned runs leaving after six innings with a three run lead. Brewster jumped out to the lead in the top of the third.
Garrett Longhurst legged out an infield single with two outs and then stole second base. Sean Henderson knocked him in with a sharp single to right. In the fourth inning the Bears tacked on another run. Consecutive singles by John Ferris, Matt Ghelarducci and Sean Fitzgerald loaded the bases for TJ DelFranco who drove in a run with a sac fly to left field.
In the fifth inning the Bears brought in three more runs. Henderson and Ghelarducci each doubled and Ferris hit a long triple as the Bears lead by the score of 5-0.
"Even though we were ahead 5-0 we had opportunities to keep adding on," said Coach Ed Mulvihill. "Hey, I'm happy with the win but if we want to be a good team we will need to take advantage of our opportunities and cash in on some of those runs."
Arlington threatened in the top of the 7th inning as they scored two runs and had the bases loaded with no outs but relief pitcher, James Cundari, settled down striking out two and getting a ground out to grab the save.
