Drug Charge after Traffic Stop in Putnam Valley

The sheriff's office reports a recent arrest.

Putnam County Sheriff Donald B. Smith reports the arrest of a Putnam Valley man on a misdemeanor drug possession charge.

At 12:08 p.m. Dec. 4, Deputy Sheriff Frank Gallipani stopped a motorist who had committed a traffic violation on Secor Road in Putnam Valley. The deputy determined that the driver, identified as Joseph C. Grieco, 25, of 42 Park Drive was in possession of a controlled substance.

The deputy arrested and charged him with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Seventh Degree, a misdemeanor. Grieco was processed at the PCSD Nelsonville Substation and released pending a Jan. 10 appearance in Putnam Valley Justice Court.

If found guilty of the misdemeanor charge, he could face up to a year in jail and a fine of up to $1,000.
