DWI On Route 52: Putnam Sheriff

A Lake Carmel man is due in court.

Putnam County Sheriff Robert L. Langley, Jr. reports the arrest of a 52-year-old Lake Carmel man
accused of Driving While Intoxicated in the Town of Kent.

On April 10, at about 2:15 p.m., while on patrol, Deputy Sheriff Christopher Tompkins was
advised by a passing motorist that there was a vehicle operating erratically on Route 52 in Kent. The
deputy located the car, stopped it, and concluded the driver, Mark A. Compton, 52, of Lake Carmel
was intoxicated.

Compton was arrested and charged with Aggravated Driving While Intoxicated for having a
BAC in excess of .18 percent. He is scheduled to appear in the Town of Kent Justice Court on April 25.
