DWI in Southeast for Danbury Man

Police responded to a single car accident on Turk Hill Road

Putnam County Sheriff Donald B. Smith reports the arrest of a Danbury man on a DWI charge.

Deputy Sheriff Keith Blessing responded to a 911 report of a property damage auto accident on Turk Hill Road in Southeast at 4:28 a.m. Monday.

When he got there, Blessing saw a vehicle had struck a utility pole. The driver of the vehicle and a passenger were not injured.

After investigation, the deputy concluded that the driver, identified as Luis A. Rodriguez, 31, of 49 B Highland Avenue, Danbury, Connecticut was intoxicated. The deputy arrested Rodriguez and charged him with Driving While Intoxicated, a misdemeanor, after the man failed a series of standardized field sobriety tests.

If found guilty of the misdemeanor charges, the defendant could face up to a year in jail and a fine of up to $1,000 for each charge.
