Federal Funds for Mahopac-Based Program Fighting Sexual Abuse and Domestic Violence

The Putnam/Northern Westchester Women's Resource Center is one of 90 agencies receiving funds.

A program serving northern Westchester and Putnam counties has won federal grant money for services to victims of domestic violence and sexual assault.

The Putnam/Northern Westchester Womens Resource Center will receive $35,252 to fund stipends for a sexual assault nurse examiners and services for sexual assault victims.

The center is among the 90 community organizations, hospitals, police departments and district attorneys’ offices in New York state receiving $6.2 million in federal funds to enhance services and protections for victims of sexual assault and domestic violence, Gov. Andrew Cuomo announced today.

“Our work is not over until we ensure no mother, daughter, friend or neighbor will ever suffer in silence,” said U.S. Rep. Sean Patrick Maloney (D-Putnam, Dutchess, Orange). ”Working across the aisle, Congress passed the bipartisan Violence Against Women Act, and partnering with Governor Cuomo, we can continue to make critical investments to combat domestic violence in our communities.”
