Hydrant Flushing Scheduled in Brewster
Discolored water in the pipes usually settles down in 24-48 hours.

The Village of Brewster plans to do hydrant flushing on Wednesday, Oct. 1.
This semi-annual necessary event maintains firefighting capabilities by ensuring maximum pressure at each hydrant, says Village Clerk Peter Brewster Hansen.
Unfortunately it disturbs the sedimentation in the mains causing the discolored water at the tap. Once the mains settle again the water color will return to normal.

The discolored water usually settles down after 24-48 hours depending on your location in the Village. Do not run your water; it will not clear up faster, could prolong the period of discoloration and will cost you unnecessary expense. Discolored water could stain clothes so it would be best to refrain from laundry for a couple of days.
