Impressive Turn-out for First Brewster Little League Registration
Kids are eager to "Play Ball!"
The first sign-up session for the 2011 Brewster Little League season began this morning at 9:00 at the Garden Street School Cafeteria. Within an hour, 20 kids had registered.
Little League President Carl Peterson expected about 130 more, with a total of 600 over the forthcoming registration period. Additional sign-up days are January 19 and 26, from 7:30 to 9:00 p.m. “We’re here to give everybody the opportunity to play baseball,” Peterson said.
Players range from 5 to 16 years old and are divided by age and ability. There will be about 55 teams, with 12 kids on each team, playing 12 games against each other. Registration costs vary by division from $95 to $155. All equipment is supplied by the Little League with the exception of gloves.

Nine-year-old Kain Gonzalez, Jr. came with his father. He signed up for the Farm League and hopes he’ll be a pitcher. His favorite professional team is the Yankees because, he says, “I was just born that way.”
