KAS Spirits Wins State Economic Development Grant
The small-batch liqueur maker is planning to expand.

PUTNAM COUNTY, NY — With a $6,000 state grant, KAS Spirits, LLC will be able to increase production of KAS Krupnikas, a spiced honey liquor.
The small-batch distillery is one of two entities in Putnam County to receive a grant in the new round of funding awarded through New York's Regional Economic Development Councils, announced yesterday by Gov. Andrew Cuomo. According to the REDC:
KAS Spirits will invest in equipment and hiring full time production, sales and office staff with the anticipation of increased sales due to acceptance of distribution by a NY distributor and one in Connecticut.
“Through the Regional Economic Development Councils, we have replaced the ‘one-size fits all’ approach to economic growth with a ‘ground-up’ strategy that focuses on cooperation and investing in regional assets to generate opportunity,” Cuomo said. “By bringing together ideas from local government and community leaders with state resources, we are giving these councils the tools to create jobs and drive economic activity in their communities for generations to come. I congratulate the Regional Councils on their awards, and look forward to continuing to work together to build a stronger New York for all.”
