Langley Names Putnam Undersheriff
Michael F. Corrigan, who has done local and specialized police work, will join the new Sheriff's Office administration.

Sheriff-elect Robert L. Langley, Jr. has named his Undersheriff. Michael F. Corrigan will be his second-in-command when Langley takes office Jan. 1.
Like Langley, Corrigan has deep experience in the Putnam County Sheriff's Office.
Corrigan's 34 years of law enforcement experience, include 21 years in the Putnam County Sheriff’s Department, 18 as a criminal investigator, Langley said in the announcement.

Corrigan 54, of Carmel, has additionally served on the police forces of the Village of Cold Spring and the Town of New Fairfield, Connecticut, as well the City of New York Department of Environmental Protection Police, Langley said in a press release.
Corrigan is a 1995 graduate of the 183rd Session of the prestigious FBI National Academy in Quantico, Virginia.

Langley, a former sheriff's investigator, said he chose Corrigan as his Undersheriff because “Mike’s priority has always been to serve the community. He is a thorough, meticulous law enforcement officer. Mike commands respect among the rank and file, and he will bring excellence to our officer training programs. Like me, Mike will hold our Deputies to a high standard of performance, and with me he will return integrity to the Department.”
Langley narrowly won the election in Putnam County, ousting Sheriff Donald Smith, who was first elected in 2002.
Langley ran in part because he was concerned about Smith's actions against former District Attorney Adam Levy, which included public remarks and hidden letters, and which ended up costing the county $150,000 to settle a defamation lawsuit. "He spent nearly his entire last term fabricating charges in a personal vendetta," Langley said in September.
