Letter To The Editor: O’Donnell In 18th Congressional District

The writer is a Cold Spring resident.

Dear Editor,
I am writing to express my support for James O’Donnell for Congress. If you’ve ever met Jim you wouldn’t have to read my letter any further. He is a gentleman, a family man, married to his lovely wife for 44 years and together they have 8 children and 7 grandchildren.

Jim has earned a distinguished career which culminated in retirement as Lieutenant Colonel for the New York State Police, after which he was appointed to serve as the Chief of Police for the Metropolitan Transportation Authority Police Department.

Jim is a graduate of the FBI National Academy, attended the Harvard University JFK School of Government, graduate level study at the University of Alabama and has a degree from Dominican College.

Jim has extensive supervisory experience in areas such as Violent Felony Warrant Squad, State Police operations in New York City, and overseeing all Uniform Trooper Patrol operations. He has also been recognized frequently for his outstanding serve in these and other areas.

His experience also extends to protection of facilities and infrastructure against threats of terrorism and he oversaw the MTA’s evacuation of New York City on 9/11 and police response during the months that followed.

In addition to being a dedicated husband, father and grandfather, Jim has dedicated his life to public service. He currently serves as a County Legislator for Orange County’s 21 st District. Prior to his election as a Legislator, Jim served as Director of Operations for the Office of the County Executive and then Deputy County Executive.

I can’t think of a more qualified, respected, hard-working candidate to represent us in the 18 th Congressional District.

His opponent, Sean Patrick Maloney, despite NOT being nominated by the Democratic Party to run for New York State Attorney General, abandoned the 18 th Congressional District office to run for the Office of Attorney General anyway. He not only put his personal interests above the needs of the constituency of the 18 th Congressional District, but also ahead of the wishes of his own party. The Democratic Party nominated an African-American Female to run for New York State Attorney General and he challenged her in a Primary election and lost.

I don’t think in any race this November, is it more crystal clear about who has a proven record of dedication to the people versus who has a proven record of dedication to himself, than in the 18 th Congressional race. This November, please come out and vote for the man who has more than earned our support, and who will always put our needs before his own personal wants; JAMES O’DONNELL FOR CONGRESS.

Thank you,

Cindy M. Trimble
