Letter to the Editor: When is Polling Nothing But Junk Statistics

An alleged “scientific” poll was conducted by the developer of Crossroads with results from 300 residents, 240 of whom supported Crossroads.

Some majority. The Town of Southeast has 18,000 residents.

The developer failed to mention the company that conducted the poll; the method - personal interview, phone, paper survey - or the questions asked and how many and percentage of approval/disapproval. Did it meet the criteria of being a truly random poll?

So much for junk science and junk statistics to grab headlines and to manipulate a gullible and uninformed public.

You remember what Prof Gruber said that the Obama administration relied on the ignorance of the public to bamboozle them into accepting the Affordable Care Act. Don’t let the developer of Crossroads bamboozle you.

Support the maintenance of the Rural Commercial Code created by a committee of residents and public officials and oppose efforts of one person to abolish it.
