PUTNAM COUNTY, NY — Law enforcement, rescue and dive teams searched Oscawana Lake for two days for a Brooklyn man who had disappeared underwater while out with friends Saturday.
The body of Brooklyn resident Sydney Joseph, 46, was recovered Monday morning.
Police said Joseph was out on a pontoon boat with three friends, including the owner of the boat.

Among the responders were the Mahopac Falls Volunteer Dive Team and Yorktown dive team, Putnam County Sheriff's Marine Unit, Putnam Valley Volunteer Fire Department, Westchester Aviation, the Ramapo Search and Rescue K-9 unit and the Putnam Valley Ambulance Corps.
" In addition to the numerous agencies and volunteers who so tirelessly worked and assisted in this recovery effort we would like to thank the Oscawana Marina for all their assistance and all the residents of Putnam Valley who gave us access to their property," the sheriff's office said. "Our deepest sympathy and condolences go out to the family and friends of Mr. Joseph."
