Mohegan Lake Man Accused Of Car Theft In Putnam Valley

The vehicle's owner told police they started it and then went back into the house to fetch a bag. When they came back out, it was gone.

PUTNAM COUNTY, NY — A Mohegan Lake resident faces a felony charge of grand larceny in Putnam Valley.

New York State police said troopers responded to a residence March 11 in the Lake Peekskill neighborhood of Putnam Valley for a report of a stolen vehicle. The caller said they started the vehicle before returning to the house to grab a bag and it was gone upon their return.

With assistance from the Westchester County Police Department and one of their canine units, the stolen vehicle was located soon afterward, police said.

Robert J. Kristoferson, 29, was arraigned before the town of Putnam Valley Court and released to the Putnam Sheriff’s Office for an unrelated case, state police said. He is due back in Putnam Valley Court April 25.
