New York State Police Charge 4 In Southeast During Weekend Sweep
State Police in Troop K said they removed 25 impaired drivers from the roads during the weekend of Sept. 15.

BREWSTER, NY — New York State police from Troop K charged 25 drivers with DWI and other crimes over the weekend of Sept. 15. Among them were four arrests in Brewster and Southeast.
On Sept. 14, State Police from SP Brewster arrested Joseph E. Brown, 25, of West Haven, CT, for Aggravated DWI with a child in the vehicle, a class E felony, Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the 2nd degree, a class C felony, and Unlawful Possession of Marijuana, a violation. He was traveling on Interstate 84 in the town of Southeast, when he was stopped for a vehicle and traffic law violation. Investigation revealed that he was impaired by alcohol, police allege. Further investigation found he was in possession of a loaded Smith and Wesson handgun and about 7.5 grams of marijuana, police said.
On Sept. 14, State Police from SP Brewster arrested Marco T. Gonzalez-Borja, 41, of Brewster, NY, for DWI. He was involved in a two-car motor vehicle crash in the parking lot of Xtra Mart in the village of Brewster. Investigation revealed that he was impaired by alcohol, police allege.

On Sept. 15, State Police from SP East Fishkill arrested Matthew L. Rooney, 29, of Brewster, NY, for DWI with a Prior Conviction within ten years, a class E felony, and Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 7th degree, class A misdemeanor. He was traveling on Interstate 84 in the town of Southeast, when he was stopped for a vehicle and traffic law violation. Investigation revealed that he was impaired by alcohol, and additional investigation found he was in possession of a small quantity of cocaine, police alleged.
On Sept. 16, State Police from SP Brewster arrested Joseph J. Ortiz, 57, of New Fairfield, CT, for DWI, and Aggravated Unlicensed Operation of a motor vehicle in the 3rd degree, both misdemeanors. He was traveling on State Route 22 in the town of Southeast, when he was stopped for a vehicle and traffic law violation. Investigation revealed that he was impaired by alcohol, police alleged.
