News Report: Putnam DA Candidate Intervened in Fiancee's Case

She was charged with DWI and he talked to the Sheriff's Department about it, according to The Journal News.

The Journal News used a FOIL request to obtain a memo written six years ago from Putnam County Undersheriff Peter Convery to Sheriff Don Smith.

In it, Convery tells Smith that Bob Tendy, the Putnam Valley town supervisor, asked him to keep a deputy sheriff away from an administrative hearing on a case involving his fiancee. She had been charged with DWI after an accident, according to The Journal News.

Tendy told TJN reporter Lee Higgins that Convery had misunderstood what he said.

Tendy is running for Putnam County district attorney.
