NH Man Accused Of Stalking Fellow Gamer In Southeast

Putnam County Sheriff's deputies found a man fitting her description in a motel near the victim's house.

SOUTHEAST, NY — A man from New Hampshire is accused of stalking a Southeast resident who had met him while playing an online game. He was arrested after arriving at her house unannounced and uninvited, Putnam County Sheriff Robert Langley Jr. said.

She called police at 5:30 p.m. Jan. 18. She told Deputy Jonathan Irwin that she and the man used to play an online game together called, “Ark Survival” and that, two years before, she stopped speaking to and playing online with him because of how he was acting. She described it as “jealous” behavior towards her. She told Irwin she continually received receive gaming invites from him, which she ignored.

Then, she alleged, on Jan. 16, he hacked into her online gaming account. And on Jan. 18, he showed up at her door, causing her to fear for her safety.

She gave Deputy Irwin a description of the man and his vehicle which he relayed to other deputies in the area. The man was eventually located at a nearby motel and taken into custody, police said. He was identified as State of New Hampshire resident Rattana V. Phimmavongsa.

Phimmavongsa was transported to the Putnam County Correctional Facility and charged with Stalking in the 4th degree, a class B misdemeanor. He was arraigned in the Town of Patterson Court and released on his own recognizance as mandated by newly implemented bail reform laws, police said.
