Obituary: Carmela Pastore, 89, of Brewster

Carmela Pastore, 89, of Brewster, NY, previously of Longwood, FL, known affectionally to her family and friends as Millie, joined her beloved husband, Peter F. Pastore in the kingdom of God on Saturday July 16, 2022.

Millie was born in Long Island City, NY, February 27, 1933, daughter of the late Vito and Rose (Colucci) DiSalvia. She married Peter F. Pastore on October 10, 1954, in Long Island City. Together they raised their family in Woodside, NY. Peter predeceased her on August 18, 2004. Millie was happy to call Florida home for the past 28 years where she was in the company of her “Florida Family” who loved and embraced her.

With heavy hearts but wonderful memories and the solace of knowing that she has gone home to be with our Lord, Millie is survived by her three children, Jacqueline (George) Tavolilla, Jocelyn (Louie) Sarro and S. Peter (Maureen) Pastore; grandchildren, Louis Sarro and Caitlin, Grace and Gabriella Pastore. She was predeceased by her siblings Mary Guarino, James DiSalvia and Florence Cassani.

A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Monday July 25, 2022, at 10:00 am at St. Lawrence O’Toole Church in Brewster, NY followed by the interment in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Hawthorne, NY. Calling hours will be held on Sunday July 24, 2022 from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm and 7:00pm to 9:00 pm at the Beecher Funeral Home, 1 Putnam Ave., Brewster, NY.

Contributions in Millie’s memory may be made to the American Heart Association or the NY City Burn Center.
