Obituary: Dominick A. DiLello of Brewster

Dominick A. DiLello of Brewster, NY, passed away at home, surrounded by his loving family, on Wednesday August 10, 2022, at age 95.

Dominick was born December 16, 1926, in Colledimezzo, Italy, the son of the late Alfonso and Antonietta (DeNardo) DiLello. He came to the United States in 1947 and settled in Yonkers, NY. On November 27, 1954, he married Theresa Massimi at Mt Carmel Church in Yonkers, NY. They moved to Brewster, NY twenty-three years ago.

Dominick worked as a laborer and was a member of Local Union 235 out of Elmsford, NY for 50 years. He was a member of the Colledimezzo Social Club in Elmsford, NY and the Mt. Carmel Church Choir in Yonkers. Dominick was predeceased by his wife Theresa on June 21, 2010. He is survived by his son Robert DiLello and his wife Debi of Marlboro, NY; daughters Adrianna DiLello and Teresa DiLello of Brewster, NY and grandsons Dominick and Jonathan Walch as well as several adored nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his two brothers, Enrico DiLello and Luciano DiLello.

Dominick was a die-hard Yankees fan, often watching the games with his two favorite people in his world, his grandsons. Christmas was his favorite holiday and he always participated in decorating the front lawn each year. His other hobbies included putting together jigsaw puzzles, bowling, gardening and most recently, doing word search puzzles. Dominick cherished being with family most whether it was making his famous gnocchi with his grandsons or engrossed in conversation at a family BBQ. He also enjoyed socializing with his extended family, his senior friends at the Carmel Friendship Center in Carmel, NY.

A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Tuesday August 16, 2022, at 11:00 am at St. Lawrence O’Toole Church in Brewster, NY, followed by the interment in St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Yonkers, NY. Calling hours will be held on Monday August 15, 2022, at the Beecher Funeral Home, 1 Putnam Ave., Brewster, NY, from 4:00 pm to 8:00pm.
