Obituary: Ellen P. Schneider Of Brewster

Ellen P. Schneider passed away peacefully on December 14, 2022, after a short illness.
Ellen was the daughter of Caroline Ronan Schneider and Leonard Schneider and was born on 6/23/1929 in the Village of Brewster. After graduating from St. Mary’s High School in Katonah, New York and Secretarial School she went to work at the Putnam County Clerk’s Office in Carmel, New York before moving to work for the Brewster Central School System at the Garden Street School.

In 1977 after working for more than 20 years at the school, she left and became a Court Clerk for Judge George Tuttle in the Village of Brewster. In 1978 she became the Brewster Village Clerk. In 1979 she became the Putnam County Court Clerk for County Judge Barrett Hickman where she remained for more than 20 years before she retired.
Anyone who knew Ellen knows how caring and kind she was to everyone. She was a member of St. Lawrence O'Toole Church her entire life and belonged to the Brewster and Southeast Senior Citizens. Ellen loved to feed the deer and other animals around her home. She traveled throughout the United States and Canada with her parents. One of her favorite pastimes was to go to the Casinos and play the poker machines whether it be in Atlantic City, Foxwoods, Mohegan Sun, Monticello or Yonkers. She also loved the horse races which she frequented with her parents and many friends for years.

She is survived by several cousins and many close friends. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Lawrence O'Toole Church on Tuesday, December 20. 2022 at 10AM followed by burial at St. Lawrence Cemetery.
