Obituary: Justin E. Tavino, Past Chairman Of Putnam County United Way

Justin E. Tavino of Brewster, NY, passed away at home Tuesday May 16, 2023, at the age of 88.

Justin was born July 12, 1934, in Mt. Kisco, NY, son of the late Vincenzo and Josephine (Izzo) Tavino. He graduated from Brewster High School, class of 1952, then graduated from Westchester Community College. He served with the Army from 1955 to 1957. On September 12, 1959, he married Lorraine Trerotola in St. Lawrence O’Toole Church in Brewster.

Justin was an Electric Field Planner for NYSE & G for thirty years, retiring in 1994. He then worked for the Office of the Aging for the next 25 years. He was Past Chairman of Putnam County United Way, a member of St. Lawrence O’Toole K of C Council 1495 and President Friends of Senior Citizens of Putnam County Inc. until his retirement from the county in 2021.

Besides his wife Lorraine, Justin is survived by his children Edward Tavino (Shalor) of Southbury, CT, Matthew Tavino (Gina) of Rochester, NY, Melissa Zumbo (Paul) of Yorktown Heights, NY; grandchildren Connor and Madeline Tavino, Alyssa and Frankie Tavino and Gianna and Justin Zumbo. He was predeceased by his brother Peter Tavino and sisters Antoinette Disque and Rose Manes.

A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Saturday May 20, 2023, at St. Lawrence O’Toole Church in Brewster, NY at 10:00 am followed by the interment in St. Lawrence O’Toole Cemetery in Brewster. Calling hours will take place on Friday May 19, 2023, at Beecher Funeral Home, 1 Putnam Ave., Brewster, NY from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm.
