Obituary: Kathleen T. Aughavin, 93

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday at Saint Lawrence O'Toole Church in Brewster.

Kathleen T. Aughavin, a resident of Monticello, NY, died peacefully on Friday, February 4, 2022 at her daughter Ann Marie’s home in Brewster, NY. She was 93 years old.

Born on December 28, 1928 in New York City, Kathleen was the daughter of William and Abbie (Conlon) Bunce.

Kathleen graduated from Blessed Sacrament High School in New York City.On September 18, 1948, Kathleen married the love of her life, William Aughavin, at St. Teresa’s Church in Woodside, Queens, NY. Mr. Aughavin died in 2000.

Kathleen was a carpet mechanic with Hudson Carpet Service in the Bronx, NY for 50 years. She worked with the Carpenters Union Local 2287.

Kathleen was really a very unique woman. She had a larger than average personality. She simply loved life. Her family was everything to her. Kathleen enjoyed crocheting, travel, a good adventure and was a ‘card shark’. Kathleen was a Daughter of the American Revolution and a proud member of the Red Hat Lady Society.

Kathleen is survived by her daughter Ann Marie Murphy (James) of Brewster, NY; Six grandchildren, John, Kevin, Meagan, Patricia, Brendan and Grace; four great grandchildren, Liam, Caelie, Michaela and Celeste. She was predeceased by her sons, William and Timothy Aughavin and a daughter Margaret Nichols and a brother William Bunce.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, February 11, 2022 10AM at ST. Lawrence O’Toole Church, Brewster, NY. Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery, Queens, NY. Friends may call at Beecher Funeral Home, 1 Putnam Avenue, Brewster, NY on Thursday from 4 to 8pm. www.beecherfuneralhome.com
