Mrs. Andres grew up in Hastings-on-Hudson and lived in Thornwood for many years before moving to Brewster.

Lily Louise Andres died on Monday, June 13, 2022, at her home in Brewster, NY.
Born on April 22, 1927, in Hastings-on-Hudson, NY, Louise, as she was known, was the daughter of Walter H. and Venetta S. (Sargent) Haines.

She graduated from Hastings High School, the New York School of Interior Design, and the Katharine Gibbs School.
On May 27, 1950, Louise married John E. Andres in Hastings-on-Hudson. Together, they raised their family in Thornwood New York, then moved to Brewster in 1977.

In an early career, Louise worked at the Editorial Workshop of the Ladies Home Journal magazine, then as Assistant editor of McCalls Magazine.
Louise was active in the Taconic Girl Scouts, the Thornwood Women’s Club, The Home Bureau (Under the Cooperative Extension), The Southeast Museum, the Town of Southeast Historic Sites Commission, The Town of Southeast Bicentennial Commission, and she was the historian for the Milltown Association.
Louise is survived by her daughter, Susan Andres of New Fairfield, CT, and her son Carl and his wife, Alicia of Hawthorne, NY. She was predeceased by her husband, John, in 2014 after 63 years of marriage, as well as her brother, Walter H. Haines.
A graveside service was held at Cold Spring Cemetery, Cold Spring New York, on Wednesday, June 15 at 11:00am.
