Obituary: Marie G. Brady, Lifetime Tilly Foster Resident, of Brewster

Marie G. Brady, a lifetime Tilly Foster resident, of Brewster, NY, died on Thursday, November 17, 2022, in Ossining, NY. She was 94 years old.

Born on April 22, 1928, in Newark, NJ, Marie was the daughter of Santo and Sadie (Shebell) Destino.

Marie loved the Tilly Foster neighborhood and the one-room schoolhouse that she attended for 8 years on Old Route 6. She remained dear friends with her classmates throughout her life. She was very proud to be Captain of the Varsity Cheerleading Squad and had fond memories of playing field hockey. She graduated from Brewster High School in 1946.

On September 5, 1948, Marie married the love of her life, Edward J. Brady at St. Lawrence O’Toole Church in Brewster, NY.

She was a proud employee of Reader’s Digest in Chappaqua, NY, where she made lifelong friends throughout her 35 years of dedicated service.

Marie enjoyed working in her yard and loved children. For many years, she collected toys for Toys-for-Tots and was recognized for her efforts in local newspapers. She was a dedicated Godmother to Marie Giambanco, Michael Cava, George Walsh, Greg Hinkley and other Godchildren.

She was a communicant of St. Lawrence O’Toole in Brewster, a member of the Catholic Daughters, St. Lawrence O’Toole Court Bernadine #185 for over 50 years and a past member of the Italian American Club in Brewster.

Marie leaves behind her loving Goddaughter, Mary Ellen Staten, and Wendy Koehler to whom she entrusted her care and treated as daughters; her many Godchildren; her in-laws, Bob and Pat Pascarelli and several nieces and nephews.

Along with her parents, she was predeceased by her sister, Philis and her beloved husband, Edward.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, November 22, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Lawrence O’Toole Church in Brewster, NY. Visitation will be held on Monday, November 21, 2022, at Beecher Funeral Home in Brewster, from 4:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Marie’s memory to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Memphis, TN, or Boys Town, in Boys Town, NE.
