Mary Ann Bates, 87, of Brewster, NY passed away on September 14, 2022, surrounded by her family.

She was born on November 14, 1934 in Brewster, NY to James and Antoinette (Folchetti) Buccellato. Mary Ann married the love of her life Stuart W. Bates Jr. on May 7, 1966 in Ridgefield, CT.

Mary Ann is survived by her children Wayne and Stuart, her sisters Alice, Joyce and brother Ronnie, son-in-law Carmelo, sister-in-law Diane, her grandchildren Matthew (Stephanie), Andrew, Stuart, Eric and Valerie, great-granddaughter Alessandra, long-time friends and employees, Rudy, Bonnie, Rebecca, and many other loving in-laws, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Mary Ann was predeceased by her husband Stuart and daughter Cynthia. Mary Ann was a beloved wife, mother, daughter, and friend.

Mary Ann’s greatest blessing in life was her husband Stuart and three children, Wayne, Cynthia, and Stuart. She was a generous and loving mother who always looked out for her family no matter what got in her way. After Mary Ann’s husband passed on March 19, 1995, she took over the family septic company and ran it successfully.

In addition to her family, her greatest joy was taking care of her animals and giving back. Her love for animals was indescribable as she cared for her dogs, horses, sheep, goats, chickens, and many more throughout the years. But this didn’t stop there, she also took care of every animal that stopped at her door. Her selflessness continued as she often donated to several animal welfare charities and shared food and money with those in need. Mary Ann will be deeply missed by her loved ones.

Visitation will be held at Beecher Funeral Home, 1 Putnam Ave, Brewster, NY on Monday, September 19, 2022 from 4:00 PM through 8:00 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated on Tuesday, September 20, 2022 at St. Lawrence O’Toole Church, Brewster, NY at 10:00 AM. Mary Ann will be laid to rest at Wooster Cemetery, 20 Ellsworth Ave, Danbury, CT 06810.
