Obituary: Mary A. Tito, Former Brewster Resident

Mary A. Tito of Danbury, CT, passed away at home Wednesday February 22, 2023, surrounded by her loving family at the age of 86.

Mary was born April 30, 1936, in New York, NY, daughter of the late Joseph and Grace (Guerra) Pastore. She graduated from James Monroe High School in the Bronx in 1953 then married John M. Tito April 15, 1961, in the Bronx. John predeceased Mary April 14, 2022. They had lived in Bronx, NY before moving to Brewster, NY in 2004. Mary moved to Danbury nine months ago.

She was a member of St. Lawrence O’Toole Church in Brewster and a proud member of the Johnny Mathis fan club.

Mary is survived by her sons Anthony Tito and his wife Melissa of Plantsville, CT, Steven Tito of West Harrison, NY; daughters Laura Dicanio and her husband Mark of Somers, NY, Lisa Colangelo and her husband Michael Prangley of Danbury, CT, Jonnine Thomas and her husband Guy of Brewster, NY; her twin sister Marilyn Casaburi of Pleasantville, NY, Elaine Cappadona of New City, NY, Joanne Vanaria of New Rochelle, NY; grandchildren Anthony, Mark, Ariana, Michael, Alex, Guy Joseph, Geena, Samantha and great grandchildren Michael, Avah, Georgianne, Matthew, Anabel, Mark, Nicolette, Michael and Giuliana. She was predeceased by her daughter in law Daniela Tito.

A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Tuesday February 28, 2023, at 10:00 am at St. Lawrence O’Toole Church in Brewster. Interment will follow in St. Raymond’s Cemetery, Bronx, NY.

Calling hours will be held at Beecher Funeral Home, 1 Putnam Ave., Brewster, NY on Sunday February 26, 2023, from 2:00 pm to 6:00 pm and Monday February 27, 2023, from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm and 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm.

Contributions in Mary’s memory may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
