Obituary: Rose Marie Kester, Formerly Of Brewster

Rose Marie Kester passed away Dec. 6, 2019. She was born on September 25, 1914 in Chicago, Illinois. Her parents were Maria Ficano Arra and Michael A. Arra and she had two brothers and three sisters.

Rose Marie was a longtime resident of Brewster, New York before retiring to South Pasadena,
Florida. She and her husband Andrew were the proprietors of the Patio Inn Restaurant on Route
22 in Brewster for many years and were active members of the Brewster Chamber of Commerce,
Rotary and Lions Club.

She is pre-deceased by her husband Andrew, son Michael and a granddaughter Suzanne. She is
survived by many, including her daughter Joyce Durkin (husband William) of New Fairfield, Ct.
with whom she has resided for the past 23 years. Also survived by her three granddaughters,
Dawn Cleary (husband TJ), Rosebeth Holliday (husband Colin) and Andrea Milano (husband
Christopher).

She adored and enjoyed the company of her survived Great Grandchildren; TJ Cleary, Adam
Cleary (wife Miranda), Storm Tentler (husband Wayne), Paris Knibbe (husband Colton), Tom
Holliday and Jaden Milano. Rose is also survived by several great-great grandchildren; Hudson,
Harper, Briggs, Griffin and Bennett. She took great pleasure in the close relationships she held
with her many loving nieces, nephews and friends residing near and far.

She was the shining star of our family and all those whose lives she touched cherished her. She
was the warmest soul, both generous and gracious. A true matriarch of our immediate and
extended family.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Saturday December 14, 2019 at 12pm at St.
Lawrence O’Toole Church, Brewster, NY. Interment will follow at Milltown Rural Cemetery,
Brewster, NY. Visitation will be held prior to the funeral mass from 10:30am-11:30am at
Beecher Funeral Home, 1 Putnam Avenue, Brewster, NY.
