Obituary: Thomas J. McCauley Jr. of Brewster

Thomas J. McCauley Jr. of Brewster, NY passed at Calvary Hospital on April 15, 2022.

Born in Brooklyn, NY on July 28, 1936, son of Thomas J. Sr. and Kathryn (Cunningham) McCauley. Thomas was a member of the 1954 graduating class of Erasmus High School in Brooklyn, NY.

Thomas very proudly served in the US Navy from July 27, 1954 to July 25, 1957, on board the USS Roanoke CL-145 during which time he attained the rank of RD3.

On June 23, 1973, he married the love of his life, Marie Stramaitis at the Church of the Annunciation in the Williamsburg Section of Brooklyn. Mrs. McCauley died on November 5, 2011.

Thomas worked as a Manager and Assistant Vice President of Williamsburgh Savings Bank in Brooklyn, NY until his retirement on December 31, 1987. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, St. Lawrence Council #1495.

Thomas is survived by his daughter, Laura (Joe) Kostik of Fishkill, NY; his two grandchildren Alexandra and Isabella Kostik and his sister Patricia McCauley-Ekeland of Little Egg Harbor, NJ. He was predeceased by his sister, Irene K. McCauley and his brother, William P. McCauley.

A mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, April 20, 2022, at 10:00am at St. Lawrence O’Toole Church in Brewster, NY. Interment will follow at St. Lawrence O’Toole Cemetery in Brewster, NY.
