Man Wielding Knife Killed By Officer In Southeast: Police
Police had been called to a domestic violence incident, the Putnam Sheriff's Office reported.

SOUTHEAST, NY — A man died in an officer-involved shooting in Southeast Tuesday morning that began on Amawalk Road in the town of Kent, and his victim is in critical condition with multiple stab wounds, police said.
According to the preliminary investigation, a call reporting domestic violence and an apparent abduction came into Kent town police at 9:45 a.m. The information described a vehicle with a suspect and victim, a Putnam County Sheriff's Office spokesman told Patch.
Kent Police were dispatched and information concerning the incident was sent to all law enforcement personnel in Putnam County.

The Putnam County Sheriff’s Office who were assisting Kent located the couple on Fields Corner Road near Pugsley Road in the town of Southeast.
The suspect’s vehicle was located in the Town of Southeast by Sheriff’s deputies, who saw a man stabbing a woman with a knife. He was shot by the responding officers. Subsequent life-saving efforts were unsuccessful, the spokesman said.

The victim was transported to Westchester Medical Center in critical condition, state police said.
The Putnam County District Attorney’s Office has been notified and an investigation is being conducted by the New York State Police.
"I am grateful for the quick and decisive actions of our personnel, which in turn saved the life of the victim," said Putnam Sheriff Kevin McConville.
The victim is a Putnam County resident, the Sheriff's Office said. However, none of the participants will be identified at this point in the investigation.
