Owner of Caché Keeps Village in Mind at Grand Opening

He said the restaurant specializes in both family and fine dining.

More than a dozen people turned out for a ribbon-cutting ceremony at the grand opening of  Caché Restaurant and Lounge Friday afternoon.

Nelson and Elizabeth Colon, along with their 12-year-old daughter, Crystal, were all smiles as they presented the eatery, which specializes in Portuguese and Caribbean food, for the first time.

The day's menu, which was created specifically for the grand opening, included black bean soup, several seafood dishes and lots more. Elizabeth Colon said the full menu is coming soon.

Representatives from the chambers of commerce of Brewster, Mahopac-Carmel and Putnam County, as well as family and friends of the Colons, were present. Village officials were also in attendance for the opening of the restaurant, which fills the space at 57 Main St.

Nelson Colon, who has lived in the area for 12 years with his family, hopes his establishment will "do a little something" for Brewster, a place he said he loves.
