Patterson Rotary Delivers New Garden Shed to Putnam County Veterans
The Patterson Rotary Club delivered a much-needed garden shed to the Senator Vincent Leibell Putnam County Veterans Residence.
From Patterson Rotary Club:
On Saturday, May 7, the Patterson Rotary Club delivered a much-needed, brand-new garden shed to the Senator Vincent Leibell Putnam County Veterans Residence.
Despite the damp weather, a crew of Rotarians showed up early in the morning with the brightly-painted shed and smiles on their faces, ready to work.

The shed will have a sign placed on it to mark that it was given by the Rotary Club of Patterson in honor of the veterans' service. There will also be a sign thanking former and honorary Rotarians Peter and Theresa McHugh for their time spent volunteering with the veterans. The McHughs dedicated their time to veterans’ causes and acted as liaisons between the vets and the Patterson Rotary Club. The club wants to let them know how much they appreciate it.
Patterson Rotary has a long history of working on projects to help local veterans.

“We're basically there for support of the veterans who have given so much. We hope this shed will make their outdoor activities a bit more convenient and enjoyable,” said Patterson Rotarian Penny Byron.
Patterson Rotarians purchased and coordinated the placement of the shed at the site.
Patterson Rotary Club President Bill Flash adds, “We raised the funds at 'Touch A Truck for Heroes' last October and waited impatiently all winter so we could deliver it for spring gardening season.”
Plans are now underway for the 2016 Touch A Truck, which promises to be even bigger.
A favorite with kids big and little, this family-friendly event is unlike a regular car show; Touch A Truck is an interactive event with big trucks. Children and adults can get up close to the vehicles, hop into the driver's seat, blow the horn and learn about their favorite vehicles and meet the heroes who drive them. Touch A Truck will be held on Columbus Day Weekend on Saturday, Oct. 8. More details will be available closer to the event date.
Touch A Truck is one of three annual fundraising events hosted by the Patterson Rotary Club. The highly successful Men Who Cook was held in April, and the popular and family-friendly Blues & BBQ is coming up in September.
