Proposed $115.7M Brewster School Budget On The Ballot May 16
Also on the ballot are four people vying for two seats on the Board of Education.

BREWSTER, NY — The 2023 budget and school board vote is May 16, and two seats are up for election on the Brewster Board of Education.
Trustee Kerry Cunningham is seeking another term on the school board, but Francine Santos is not. Also running are Kristin Cacal, Melissa Stasi Finateri and Carrie Hernandez.
The proposed spending plan of $115,708,974 is 5.1 million or 4.66 percent higher than the current budget. District officials said state and federal aid, including BOCES aid, is expected to rise 21 percent.

The tax levy will not increase under the plan. The state's tax cap was set at 2 percent for the second straight year.
A budget hearing is scheduled for May 9.

Voters may register online with the New York Department of Motor Vehicles, or through the Putnam County Board of Elections.
The district removes the registration cards for those who have not voted within the last four years. If you have not voted in a Brewster Central School District election in the last four years, or you are not registered to vote with the County Board of Elections, you will not be able to vote on the day of the election.
Registered voters may request an application for an absentee ballot here or contact the district clerk's office at 845-279-8000.
Completed applications must be received by the District Clerk at least seven days before the election if the ballot is to be mailed to the voter, or the day before the election if the ballot is to be delivered personally to the voter or the voter’s designated agent.
Absentee ballots must be returned to the District Clerk's Office by 5 p.m. May 16.
