Putnam Coronavirus: Jail Suspends Programs, Services, Visits
These are precautionary measure for the health and well being of both officers and inmates, said County Sheriff Robert Langley.
PUTNAM COUNTY, NY β Due to the new coronavirus outbreak, Putnam officials have suspended many programs and services at the county jail.
Effective immediately all programs and religious services are cancelled until further notice. The inmate work program will not be providing outside services to any facility until further notice.
All inmate visitation was canceled as of Monday.

These are precautionary measure for the health and well being of both officers and inmates, said County Sheriff Robert Langley. As of Wednesday morning, Putnam County has two confirmed cases of the virus known as COVID-19. There are 2,382 cases in New York State.
"We know that these steps will be difficult for the families of inmates and the inmates themselves, however we must ensure that we protect everyoneβs health especially those confined to close quarters," he said in the announcement. "We will continue to monitor the coronavirus and its effect on our state as the information continues to change daily."
